Wake up, go out, Broke bones on a backyard ropeswing, Same river this child's not listening. Too wild, too young, Your son's got more than his fair share, Of shit friends, bad ideas and his Dad's hair. Bright light, fades out, Smoke lifts from a car by a streetlight, Keep running for your life if it feels right, Head down, hold tight, Kid luck smile down for the next scene, They only go this fast on the big screen. Show me the kid who's got better than this… And all the bikes we ditched in streams and all the burned out magazines that we left to, go out in the rain, For a shy child, to find his way. Show up, throw down, Take the long way home through Gravesend, High fives, fast lives with your best friends. Fine lines, wear out, This tattooed neck's got a shellfire, Keep running for the door if it feels right.

A little high a little low They will take it slow And think about how, they can climb To the pavement line It's backing up It's getting fraught I'm still here of course (I start to believe) That I'm here, For the night tonight Are you still outside? I guess the world still turns while I'm inside. Old people, getting in and out of sports cars, And I'll watch them try from my fogged up car. Old people, getting in and out of sports cars, The most depressed I have been so far. She getting out, Her creaking bones, She falls back and moans, (I stifle a laugh) But inside, a part of me dies. Seat is low pavement high The whole world passed him by (Remember the time) That you bought, A ford escort.

Jonny 04:11
Jonny in the 60's was in a band, Black shoes, black ring on his playing hand, They said he was born for the big show, Left home, hit the road and the radio. Sing up Jonny. Jonny in the sevens got into a fight, Smashed up his both hands fighting for his life, Spitting teeth, dripping blood on his black shoes, Jonny didn't back down but he did lose. Sing up Jonny. Sing up Jonny, We only fall so we can pick ourselves back up. Broken hands heal and your face wasn't a picture before. Jonny in the next months gave up, Couldn't grip a damn thing that he picked up, Couldn't play like he used to play up, Couldn't sing like he used to sing up. Had a wife and a child that he didn't see, Had a room full of wood that he didn't need, Had a band full of friends who he quite liked, But he didn't leave home in daylight. Sing up Jonny. Jonny in the next years stayed home, Singing songs in his head that he used to know, One night when he turned on the radio, Heard a kid sing a song that Jonny wrote. Sing up kid, You're doing just fine, I used to remember, What it could be like, Believe it or not son, I used to break hearts. Do your old man proud.

I used to play in Along Came Man.

I used to play in The New 1920.

Now it's just me, with a guitar, having a shout and probably a bit of a swear.
